Subject: Lee of Virginia
A member of the Lee family (Edmund Jennings Lee 1852-1922) gives biographical and genealogical sketches of the Lees of Virginia. For genealogical purposes,
...
this is an excellent resource. The author pulled some of his material from other sources (for instance, the brief notice on the Jones family comes from a 1891 book), at least some of which are referenced.
There are more recent books on the Lees, written in different times, that are more expository. I tend to get lost in them as to which Ann or Henry or whomever they are referencing. I have found this book less confusing in that regard.
This particular copy was imaged from a single-sided copy of the two-sided original book. The pictures from the original aren't usable. I haven't run into any text I couldn't read. On the plus side, someone added notes which can be quite useful. (For instance, see page 101). Could it have been the original author contemplating a second version?
If you want a clean copy without the added notes, look elsewhere (Google Books has a copy.)
